William A.
Belding, Ph.D.
Education
Dr. Belding attained his B.S.and Ph.D. in Ceramic Engineering
from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ where he graduated
with honors and was awarded membership in Keramos, the honorary
fraternity for ceramic engineers.
Work Experience
20 years of Dr. Beldings career were spent with Kaiser
Aluminum and Chemical Corporation and later LaRoche Chemicals in
progressively more responsible positions with his last several
years as R&D Director. During this time frame, he was
responsible for key developments in the areas of desiccants,
adsorbents, catalysts, and ceramic materials. These included new
product developments in Claus catalysts, chloride and fluoride
scavengers, auto exhaust catalysts, inorganic catalyst binders,
acid-dispersible alumina materials and advanced ceramic
materials.
More recently, as an independent consultant, Dr. Belding
functioned as principal investigator in a joint Gas Research
Institute/LaRoche program developing an advanced desiccant wheel
and prototype desiccant cooling systems. In working with LaRoche
Air Systems (now NovelAire Technologies), he played a major role
in developing and securing key patent positions for base
technology relating to desiccant/matrix compositions, wheel
manufacturing and cooling and dehumidification system designs.
Dr. Belding has performed extensive modeling studies and
developed software both for company internal engineering
applications and as outside sales tools.
Dr. Belding is a creative problem solver with eye for
practical technology implementation. Where beneficial, he
incorporates statistical design approaches in his development
programs. He is listed as inventor on 13 issued patents and has
several additional patents pending.
